Follow this convenient link http://myfwc.com/License/ for license and permit infomation including license requirements and resident and non-resident fees. Annual, 7 day, or 3 day licenses are available for non-residents. Licenses can be purchased on-line, at the county tax collector’s office, or via phone by calling 888-FISH-FLORIDA (347-4356).
You need a freshwater, saltwater or combination license (or appropriate exemption) to fish. In estuarine type areas like Pine Island Sound where salt water and fresh water mix, and both freshwater and saltwater fish are found, you will need a combination license. License requirements follow the species of fish (e.g., freshwater or saltwater), regardless of where they are caught. In other words, if you only have a freshwater license and are primarily fishing for (freshwater fish) but happen to catch a saltwater fish, you must immediately release it (Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission).
